humidity drips
spongy swamp grass and sphagnum
squelching underfoot

My response to Carpe Diem #1226 swamp
Today we have a modern kigo, taken from A Dictionary of Haiku by Jane Reichhold, which one wouldn’t immediately associate with summer: swamp. He has also shared a haiku written by Jane:
black cypress
draining into the swamp
strands of color
© Jane Reichhold (1937-2016)
as well as one of his own:
hot summer day
wandering through the swamp
mosquitoes buzzing

Excellent poem! Excellent examples too. 😎😎😎🥀🥀🥀
