city streetlights
offset memories of rain
with promises of more weather
light and dark
hot and cold
another year of life together

I love the image of city streetlights and memories of rain ❤️ may the new year bring warmth rather than cold.. and send us towards the path of light and happiness rather than darkness and despair. Beautifully penned.

“Same old thing, over and over again” would make a title for these folks expectations. I enjoyed the read. Also I like your picture choice. Rainy days can get us down.

Thanks Jim. We had heavy rain all day yesterday and now this morning the sun is shining – but it’s still freezing cold!

The street lights and the rain, the coming joy, the coming pain – wonderful when all weather is shared together.

All the contrasts in this poem all adding up to one more year together. That is what it is all about, isn’t it? And how cool that your father used to work at the tower bridge!
