Are the ghosts trembling?

the theatre crumbles
long after the curtain fell
the overture lingers
with each blow of the wrecking ball
dust and plaster merge
a death mask
are the ghosts trembling?
crowds of dark shadows converge
waiting in the wings

My response to In The Spotlight At Carpe Diem Haiku Kai — An Open Stage #1 Wrapped in a leaf blanket
In the first episode of a new special feature at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, called ‘In The Spotlight At Carpe Diem Haiku Kai — An Open Stage’, Chèvrefeuille will be sharing Japanese poetry that was sent by e-mail by haiku poets who don’t participate on a regular basis or don’t have the opportunity to link their poetry to our Haiku Kai. This week it is from Rosemarie Horvath Iwasa.
Sad to see a beautiful landmark like that come down!

There are so many small theatres that are being knocked down. I wish they’d find a use for them in the community.
