Waiting for…

moan and squeal
boom and sigh
gentle slap and tickle
admonishing crash
and sibilating spray
rolling up the horizon
and laying it out again

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads NaPoWriMo: Waiting for…

Izy’s here to kick off week two. She says that although her prompt, at face value, may seem simple, it will bring us a little out of the standard. She asks us to write a poem about waiting, but not to tell her what we’re waiting for in the poem.

  1. A mystery for sure, one that is very well done. Many thoughts come to mind but expressing them might embarrass me, ha, ha, except one about the apocalypse which awaits us all 🙂 love it

  2. I see the waves upon the shore, and feet waiting for that watery rush.. but I’m tempted to picture something else involving slap and tickle.

      1. Yay! I knew it was the waves, the tide, but you’ve cleverly, poetically hidden it in plain view. Hope you were rewarded for your patience 🙂

    1. I miss living right next to the sea. From where we live now, it’s a 15 minutes drive. But we do have the Norfolk Broads on our doorstep and boats at the end of the garden, so I can’t grumble. 🙂
