Spring Barter

Spring stalled in her tracks,
                       silencing birds, wasting
late-flowering catkins
             and shrivelling
             leaves.
             bartered
for a little
                       heat and sun,
trees and shrubs
             waited patiently to
                       green and blossom.

My response to Poets United Midweek Motif: Barter / Trade

Susan, our host this week, would like us to barter and trade.

  1. At last Spring made a successful trade with winter and we have received summer in return. Two weeks ago it was cold and rainy and now the leaves and flowers have exploded. I think the trade is a success.

  2. It’s Autumn here….blue sky and sun but a sun without the intensity that I crave. In fact our Autumn is warmer than your Spring…23 degrees c. today.I like weather poems.
