Spring Barter

Spring stalled in her tracks,
                       silencing birds, wasting
late-flowering catkins
             and shrivelling
bramble
             leaves.
As
she
             bartered
for a little
                       heat and sun,
trees and shrubs
             waited patiently to
                       green and blossom.

My response to Poets United Midweek Motif: Barter / Trade

Susan, our host this week, would like us to barter and trade.

  1. How sad, to think the seasons themselves would have to barter for their identity! Food for thought, indeed.

  2. At last Spring made a successful trade with winter and we have received summer in return. Two weeks ago it was cold and rainy and now the leaves and flowers have exploded. I think the trade is a success.

  3. It’s Autumn here….blue sky and sun but a sun without the intensity that I crave. In fact our Autumn is warmer than your Spring…23 degrees c. today.I like weather poems.
