pheasants at the gate
bright feathers come floating down
strange autumn leaves

My response to Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #56 Crossroads
This weekend our challenge is to create a ‘fusion’ haiku from four given haiku in a Crossroads hineri episode. We may choose two or all four haiku from the selection by Basho, Issa, Buson and Shiki:
a strange flower
for birds and butterflies
the autumn sky
© Basho
the pheasant cries
as if it just noticed
the mountain
© Issa
the winter river;
down it come floating
flowers offered to Buddha
© Buson
just outside the gate
the road slopes downward
winter trees
© Shiki
Feathers as leaves – I like that.
