How Strange the Change

How strange is the change
from those heavy gunmetal days
that fall in the cracks between
Christmas and New Year?
How sweet the shift of chord
from minor to major
as mornings become lighter
strewn with white and purple crocuses
and a blackbird’s song!

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

De is looking after the pub today with the word ‘change’, which makes me think of David Bowie’s song ‘Changes’ and the song by Ella Fitzgerald: ‘Every time we say goodbye’ – I love the lines:

‘There’s no love song finer
But how strange the change from major to minor
Every time we say goodbye.’

  1. This is absolutely exquisitely drawn, Kim ❤ I love mornings and the image of them “strewn with white and purple crocuses and a blackbird’s song.” 😍😍

  2. to insert the hope for light and song … to know the pulsing of green and life fresh and alive …. you’ve really captured the essence of both seasons and the transitional grey area – great quadrille Kim!

      1. Our sunset has shifted to between 15.30 and 16.00. Today we have snow mixed with sunshine but the sky has just change from blue to grey – ominous!
