Silent Pond

a nightingale’s song
breaking silence of the pond
flowering lotus

a nightingale’s song
warbling from the depths of night
silvered by the moon

breaking silence of the pond
a breath of wind blows the reeds
bubbles rise in mud

flowering lotus
a satellite of the moon
orbiting the pond

My response to Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #87 Crossroads

For the first weekend meditation in June, our challenge is a ‘Crossroads’ episode, in which the goal is to create a new haiku inspired by the following haiku and then create a Troiku from the new haiku:

reaching for the sun
lotus flowers bloom from the mud
old pond changes

deep silence
even deeper as the nightingale starts to sing
beautiful life

Chèvrefeuille (2017)

I’d forgotten how tricky crossroads Troiku can be!

  1. In your fusion, “breaking silence of the pond” is a nice interpretation of both “old pond changes” and “deep silence.”
I especially like the closing haiku of your troiku.
