scrap of fallen sky
blown on an autumn-chilled breeze
cornflower fades to grey

My response to Carpe Diem #1724 Cornflower
Today’s addition to our field of flowers is the cornflower, also known as bachelor’s button. In folklore, cornflowers were worn by young men in love; if the flower faded too quickly, it was taken as a sign that the man’s love was unrequited.
Lovely! I love the colors of summer, but not the heat. I am looking forward to autumn.

Thank you, Cie! The weather has already started to cool down here and it’s much more bearable.
