Goodbye to Bees

Now
that autumn
is here, with winter
on its heels, I observe
ever-changing foliage
through windows blurred
with misty condensation.
I think back to liquid sun-
drops, pollen-perfumed
bumble-kissed summer
lullabies, and whisper
goodbye to bees
until they appear
next year.

My response to Poets United Midweek Motif: Honey / Bee

I’ve taken a haiku I wrote in 2018 and reworked it for Sumana’s motif  this mid-week.

  1. I like your lemon shape, Kim. We have a friend in Towster, Milton Keens, U.K. who has a lemon tree that never set on lemons. I told her how it is lack of bees and since we are that way too I discovered how to hand pollinate them with a Q-tip. She has been having lemons since.
