the art of quantum physics
energetically pops and fizzes
on impudent protruding tongues
bright and tripping acid tones
orange, blue and green
on Andy’s silver screen
from the depths of velvet
underground to a star man
spaced out in outer space
on Einstein’s face

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Meeting the Bar/dVerse Form for All Warhol in Words: Poetic Pop Art
Victoria is our host this Thursday and the theme is Pop Art. She has given us two thought-provoking quotes from Warhol, a comprehensive background to the art movement, and a summary of the characteristics of pop art.
Victoria takes her lead from Ted Kooser, a former poet laureate of the United States, who gives ideas about how poets can simulate pop art in his book, The Poetry Home Repair Manual: Practical Advice for Beginning Poets, and she makes some suggestions on how we can do this in our poems for this prompt.
I just love this one, Kim. There is a bit of humor and I think Andy would applaud. I am. Thanks for taking time from your busy schedule to join us.

All that came to mind for me for this prompt was Bowie. I’m glad you slipped him in there 🙂

That is the first image that comes to my mind when I think of Einstein. I like your description of it as “pops and fizzes”.

I like this! Fun poem. Love the pop and fizzle of physics and the picture of Einstein, one of my favorites by Warhol.

I love the pop icons you’ve playfully and poetically placed in your poem. Colors, tripping, tones, physics, pops, and fizzes also 🙂

Like the Cubist poets, you nailed the whole POP movement. I almost chose David Bowie too. I haven’t thought about the Velvet Underground in years.

Thanks. 😊 I was up at six to clean the bathroom and give the dining room floor a once-over with the mop. It’s 7.15 and I’ve stopped for a cup of tea. I can’t wait for them to arrive!

This is wonderful Kim. Brings me back to the 60’s — partying in my college years, playing in my rock bands, and touring the country on my motorcycle! Great Warhol video!

For me it was the seventies, which I spent in Germany, and I was crazy about Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground, David Bowie and Iggy Pop.

Love, love, love Mr. E. Wish I’d known him. This is the only Warhol I like- can totally see why he’d want to repeat the snap of this irreverence. E. would have loved the poem, especially being called a starman. Glad you wrote it.
