Each of the artist’s
brushes that bristle in pots
are like the pens poised
on the poet’s desk top.
Accretions of crusty paint
are tiny self-portraits on the palette
like words on the poet’s pages,
paper or screen, all sense distilled
into vivid marks and images.

My response to the Living Poetry Monday Poetry Prompt: Each, Paper, Sense, where we are writing poems including the words ‘each’, ‘paper’ and ‘sense’, three words randomly chosen from a list of the top 1000 words in the English language.
“sense distilled
into vivid marks and images.”
Love these last two lines.🎨

Great job with the prompt, Kim. I like the comparison of painting to writing poetry.
