Storm Sounds

Who’s that banging at the door?
I was asleep and awoke
                                          with a snore.

There’s a terrify crashing in the trees,
and the wind is no longer
                                          a gentle breeze:

it’s an ogre, firstly humming and growling,
then a screaming banshee,
                                         whistling and howling.

It’s Monday again and, here at the dVerse Poets Pub, Punam is our host for the final Quadrille prompt of the year, inviting us to end 2024 with a bang!

Today we are writing poems of exactly 44 words, not including the title, including the word ‘bang’. Punam has shared some interesting excerpts from poems to inspire us. Mine is a quadrille for children.
