Almost-Spring

It’s that time of year again
when, in the horologist’s shop,
clocks argue about the correct time
or stop
at some haunting hour to hint
at lighter mornings
and longer days,
and long to spring
forward into bluer skies,
greener branches and meadows,
and more rainbows.

It’s Quadrille Monday at the dVerse Poets Pub, where Mish is our host asking if we can take a hint and ‘fit your wonderful, wandering muse into exactly 44 words, not including the title, and containing a word given by our host. The word is ‘hint’, and I enjoyed the poems Mish found with that word.

As always, Mish asks us to find a way to incorporate the word hint into our poems, the theme and style of which is open.

  1. I can feel the shift in light as sunset is now stretching a bit later. A hint of longer days to come.

Of course now I have all those clocks in my mind…squabbling over time.

  2. This made me smile! I loved the arguing clocks ☺️. I wish we could all just be on daylight savings time or BST as you say in the UK all year round. More daylight, more chance to be outside and no more need for recovery time losing an hour or gaining an hour
