Thirty-Three Years On

Thirty-three years have passed in the
blink of an eye and the taste
of those first kisses still lingers, of
sea salt on the wind that tied us
together. I remember the
excitement, the spice,
the excitement of
being us.

Can you remember the
rolling waves and their hollers,
the crash of the rollers and
suck of the ebb? I still feel the
pull, the melodies and rhythms
of your voice, your skin and
mine, touching, and the
chiming of our heart beats:

the lasting echoes of
the symphony of us.

Grace is our host a the dVerse Poets Pub Open Link Night, and the optional prompt is a poem, ‘Proof’ by Cornelius Eady.

I took these lines from ‘Proof’ and wrote a golden shovel to celebrate our thirty-third anniversary, which is tomorrow.
