Thirty-three years have passed in the
blink of an eye and the taste
of those first kisses still lingers, of
sea salt on the wind that tied us
together. I remember the
excitement, the spice,
the excitement of
being us.
Can you remember the
rolling waves and their hollers,
the crash of the rollers and
suck of the ebb? I still feel the
pull, the melodies and rhythms
of your voice, your skin and
mine, touching, and the
chiming of our heart beats:
the lasting echoes of
the symphony of us.
Kim M. Russell, 29th January 2026

Grace is our host a the dVerse Poets Pub Open Link Night, and the optional prompt is a poem, ‘Proof’ by Cornelius Eady.
I took these lines from ‘Proof’ and wrote a golden shovel to celebrate our thirty-third anniversary, which is tomorrow.
Congrats Kim and hubby! Happy celebration!!!!! Love the ending lines: the lasting echoes ofthe symphony of us.

Sea salt on the wind of a kiss is so much the tumult of beginnings, vivacissimo heartbeats resolving into exaltation … you two look like very happy customers of the Love Hotel. Much to celebrate! My wife and I hit 30 years in October.

Thanks Brendan. For me it was the second time around. The first only lasted four years.

Congratulations on number THIRTY-THREE! You are both blessed. As I read your luscious poetry … could not help feeling bereft (perfect word choice) acknowledging the loves I have lost. Two, though one alive the other gone, those losses never leave. Once again, your poem was the perfect anniversary celebration.
