Daughter

Golden haired and violet eyed,
Running and jumping by my side,
A happy child, with a smile so wide.

I missed her when she left our home,
New life, new friends, her childhood done,
Nervous that my bird had flown.

Excited that she found her man; pride,
Elation when she became a bride,
Laughing and beaming at her husband’s side.

Lovely daughter, now a mother of two sons,
Exceptional and loyal. My job is almost done;
Now I am a grandmother, I have all the fun.

This Thursday I am hosting Meeting the Bar at the dVerse Poets Pub and we are writing acrostic name poems, which tell about a name, using the letters of the name for the first letter of each line, and they can be as simple or complex as we wish to make them. I’ve given some classic examples to show how it’s done.

The challenge is to write a name acrostic for someone in the public eye, a loved one or even oneself, using the full name, if possible. It can be romantic, humorous, political, and in any form.

    1. Thanks Melissa. I just wish I lived closer to them, it’s always a tricky journey by train – and I always come back having caught something from the boys. This time it was a chest infection.

      1. It’s not so bad when you spend all your time with children. While I was still teaching, I got sore throats but never chest infections.

  1. I love this, Kim, and resonate with it completely. I helped raise the grandkids, and now have great-grandkids coming up. What an adorable little being in the photo. Just gorgeous.

  2. A Special Acrostic! A Grandbaby! It all flies by so quickly, Kim. I dearly love listening to my grandson (turning 30) and granddaughter (turning 33) share all the wonderful stories from our years together ~ when they were small children, during their growing up years and their now all grown up years. You are going to have that as well. Cheers to the coming decades. [ thank you so much for leaving me a comment ] OH yes, I’ve been mad about the MAN since he arrived on the scene way back in the day.
