My mother’s love is red and gold,
the vibrant love of sunset,
a kiss before I bid the world
goodnight.
Under the silhouetted tree,
the sky the colour of her heart,
holding me close, she says to me,
“Sleep tight!”

It’s Tuesday and, at the dVerse Poets Pub, our host for Poetics is Lillian, with an ekphrastic prompt with a difference.
Lillian tells us about ‘discovering’ an 8-year-old boy called Azul from the Philippines. She says, “I was amazed by the vibrancy of colors he achieves with pastels and watercolors, as well as his artistic insights into the subjects themselves.”
With the permission of his parents and the young artist himself, Lillian has shared four pieces of his work to inspire us to write a poem inspired by one or more of the given paintings/drawings .
I chose to write a short verse for children.
This is gorgeously rendered, Lillian 😀 I love how you have compared a mother’s love to that of a vibrant sunset. ❤️❤️

Oh Kim, you have captured Azul’s innocence and the loveliness of childhood in this poem. “The sky the colour of her heart” — a wonderful line.
Thank you so much for posting….and hoping you feel better very soon!
