My response to dVerse Poets Pub Poetics : Poetry is for the Birds, inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 29: “the lark at break of day arising / From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven’s gate”.
Up
with the lark’s
early morning exaltation
of exclamation
curlicues and marks
that punctuate the sky
thrillingly trilling high
above open fields
and sand dunes
extravagant tunes
elaborate mating calls
the very voice of spring
suspended
somewhere
overhead
then
slowly
descending

I so enjoy the birds these mornings.. even if there is a backlash of cold weather sometimes, the birds are happy.

Another wonderful work! Equates to the beauty in the skies! Take two does not take a back seat to your first! Both well done!

You pack a wallop with such a dollop of words; quite the accomplishment actually.

Your poem imparts the vision, sounds and joy of those birds when they’re out doing their “maneuverings” in the skies…so beautifully done.

Wonderful exaltation. There used to be larks in a west London park which was a farm years before. The larks just kept coming back. Thank goodness!
