Melting into Mourning

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille – 5 – World Poetry Day – Melt

In the graveyard,

final moments

melt like kisses

on eyelids of the dead;

sods of earth

melt like shadows

into the darkness of the grave.

A small child,

wandering between legs

of adults,

coats and trousers flapping

in the funereal breeze,

melts into mourning.

  1. A strong piece that somehow coincides with the chaos & sadness today in Brussels. We live in strange times, though I refuse to believe it is the End Times. Of course if Trump becomes President, who the hell knows where things will evolve or disintegrate?
