Overnight
gusts of wind and rain
have plucked leaves
from the trees,
waking early morning birds:
October’s first words.
Glints of sun
on haws in hedgerows
evaporate
tear-shaped drops
of rain on gleaming rosehips:
a smile on your lips.
Rowans droop
under weight of fruit,
scarlet beads
radiate
with promise of fair weather:
a day together.

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Writing Prompt October 2nd: Take the Heat!
October is upon us and we are tackling the next card of Major Arcana, card number XIX: The Sun, an image of optimism and fulfilment, the dawn that follows the darkest night. The Sun represents success, radiance and abundance. The Sun gives us strength and tells us that no matter where we go or what we do, our positive and radiant energy will follow us, bringing us happiness and joy. People are drawn to us because we can always see the bright side and we bring such warmth into other people’s lives. This beautiful, warm energy is what will get us through the tough times and will help us succeed. We are also in a position where we can share our highest qualities and achievements with others. We radiate who we are and what we stand for, shining love on those we care about.
The poem was marvellous!!…

Beautiful poem. I absolutely adore the last stanza, the part where I can read “Rowans droop”, the word choice is excellent!
