I’m waking on the edge of dawn,
shadow-lit and milky-grey,
diffused by pigeon’s wings in sun
as they ascend into the day.
I’m clinging to the edge of dawn,
a sparkling morning has arrived,
and the magic’s only just begun:
mist clears from heaven’s eye,
leaves snowdrop-scented dew on lawn,
and daffodil trumpets breathe a sigh
as they open at the edge of dawn.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Fashion Me Your Words to – Fold
This weekend, Gillena has given us The Fold, which she created in response to an online challenge to create a new form – a poem defined by its structure, with a specific style or set of rules that must be used for writing that form. She asks us to let our words of fiction, fact or fantasy dance with her in celebration, while staying true to the guidelines.
The poem must have 11 lines; the end phrase of Line one repeats at Lines 5 and 11; the rhyme of line 1 continues through in every other line; there must be a reference to nature and how it affect us the poets.
Gillen has also shared an example of her own, entitled ‘Mud’ and pointed us in the direction of origins and instructions.
Really this was at the edge of dawn.Stunning imagery.

I do love this… the dawn moves ever earlier… at this time it’s not at night, but no snowdrops or pigeons yet… lovely images.

Beautiful, Kim. And clever of you to work in the extra rhyme, which enhances the poem.
