Words like Paint

She paints the detail of a seed
and from it roots and branches
sprout and grow;
blossoms open in a haze
of breath and drift away;
leaves uncurl, exhaling green,
then turn to rust, fall and decay.
She looks at fingers stained with words,
her face reflected In the oily sheen,
and sees the universe.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Play It Again Toads!

Today we are revisiting archived challenges of the Imaginary Garden with Kerry. We can choose a recent prompt, one from the side bar or one from Kerry’s selection. This week it was so hard to choose but I have decided on FLASH 55 PLUS! for which we write a piece of poetry or prose on a subject of our choice in precisely 55 WORDS, with an optional extra: to add a touch of Zen to our pieces.

  1. This is beautiful, Kim. I’m so pleased the painting spoke to you – I think it has such poise. Your words add a vibrancy to the scene, and touches on the universal nature of art.. all in 55 words.

    1. Thank you Kerry. I’m so glad you shared that picture – it does have poise – and depth. You can read so much into a simple composition.
