old pond’s spring water
clouding with fresh abundance
ripple of tadpoles

My response to Carpe Diem Universal Jane #14 Basho’s “Old Pond”
Chèvrefeuille tells us that this weekend-meditation is a new episode of the special feature in honour of Jane Reichhold, ‘Universal Jane’, whose favourite haiku poets included Basho. Jane collected his haiku in her book, The Complete Haiku: Matsuo Basho. He has also shared Jane’s article about Basho’s well-known own haiku ‘frog pond’ to inspire our own frog haiku.
Ripple of tadpoles is perfect for the image. Nicely done! Brought back memories of childhood days and having fun catching those slippery wiggles. ❤

Thank you, Olga! I’m waiting for the frogs to return to our garden.

I don’t think it will ever stagnate – there will always be new frogs in the hood!
