My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Steep
This week Mish is hosting the Quadrille with the word ‘steep’ and today would have been my dead father’s birthday. I’m celebrating with a cup of lemon, ginger and manuka honey tea and a poem about what happened this afternoon.
It is good that one doesn’t have to do any more than be in the world.

Aromatic hug… oh that is a great taste… I love ginger and did myself some ginger shots the other day.

Very sweet. Rich image and great pause, before the sip, forcing us to smell and enjoy. In Zen Archery, you hold the bow and don’t release quickly, you abide in the tension — like this poem — it is called “Kai”. You poem pleasantly reminded me.

Lovely hug in a lovely mug. Sometimes that’s enough.

love the mug caption, some people can do that, and they are the ones that usually give the best hugs – a cup for dad!

Relaxing, the tea-making ritual, with the “aromatic hug” before the commencement of the sipping. I love this.

Like an Asian tea ceremony, this bundle of loveliness mellows me to the core. Your mug is all aces. That’s the way I feel about all the poets from the Pub.

the pause before the sip – savoring, being. Wonderful poem Kim. I love the smell of honey as it curls up in steam.

It sounds lovely! Many times I will grate a bit of ginger, add some lemon and locally sourced (my back yard!) honey to hot water. Sometimes just to sit and smell.

As a tea-lover, I thoroughly enjoyed this, especially the insert of gratitude and then of patience, inhaling the fragrant aroma first. Aww…
