Morning breaks slowly;
in the emerging light,
robins and blackbirds
rehearse their words,
tuning up quietly
before they release their songs
like raindrops into the stream
of morning birdsong
to seep into my dream.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Tuesday Platform Poems in April Day 30: The Frontier of Writing

Anmol is our host on the final day of NaPoWriMo and our optional challenge s to write a poem in praise of a source of inspiration: muse, life, web of thoughts, dreams or sleeplessness, daily tasks, favourite artist or musician, nature and environment. He asks us to keep it between 30-60 words. As inspiration, he has shared Seamus Heaney’s poem ‘From the Frontier of Writing’.

    1. Thank you so much, Sanaa! And congratulations to you, too. It wasn’t easy with the different little trips away but I got there. 🙂

  2. It gave me the same thrill I get when I’m in a concert hall and I hear the instruments start to tune up. Is there a word that encompasses the idea of being thrilled and at peace in the same moment?
