Someone has gathered
a bunch of monochrome moons
and tied them to a grey
bridge, beneath a grey
sky, where they collect grey
city dust, when all they want to do is drift away…
At the end of the day,
sunset splashes paint
across the cityscape,
reveals a rainbow
cloud of balloons,
no longer moons
but bright red apples, oranges
and lemons, sweetening the view.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Bits of Inspiration: You Write the Colour
Today Susie is making it simple by providing images for inspiration and for us to write the colour. She asks us to choose one or more of the images and bring at least two colours into our poems.
I love how the introduction of light – the sunset – fills the world with colour. The red, yellows, and oranges and how they are represented by fruit. Very sweet indeed.

Marvelous work, KR! Grey, grey, grey–then POW! Sunset rainbow balloons! Yep. That’s how it’s done!

This is absolutely gorgeous, Kim! ❤️ I love how you introduce color into the poem with “beneath a grey
sky, where they collect grey city dust,” and then a burst of sweetness in shape of “bright red apples, oranges and lemons.” 😀 Inspired ~

Oh, I love this. The tone of gray transforming to color by the end of the poem is perfect. I originally took the photo in color, but the black and white version of it just spoke poetry to me. Thank you for taking part in the prompt!

Very little room to swap then swing a wild brush but you did it.
