a field of dried grass
orchestra of grasshoppers
sending me to sleep

My response to Carpe Diem #1773 Kick Off: A Field of Dried Grass (Basho)
White rabbits! Pinch, punch, first day of the month! In the first episode of November, Carpe Diem’s new theme is ‘Never Change A Winning Team’,
and our inspiration will come from haiku created by well-known and not so well-known haiku poets.
We are starting with Matsuo Basho’s final haiku – his Jisei:
tabi ni yande yume wa kareno wo kake meguru
falling sick on a journey
my dream goes wandering
over a field of dried grass
Basho (Tr. Chèvrefeuille)
A very inspired haiku and a wonderful picture !

This reads like welcoming the end, knowing it is inevitable.

That’s how I feel these days. No fear of the end.
