Strange Day

Friday is a strange
day,
it’s a bit of a why
day.
For me it’s the fifth
day,
and for workers it’s the last
day
of the working week.

Friday
is unlucky, especially
for sailors. Black or Good,
it will always be
my day.

It’s Monday and, at the dVerse Poets Pub, De has us writing quadrilles about Friday.

Yes, we’re writing poems of precisely 44 words, including one word provided by our host, and De would like us to try a little something different and frolic with the proper noun Friday. I was born on a Friday.

  1. Dear Kim, I was a little puzzled by this self-styled “frolic”, sensing its wistfulness and a reserve about it, until I reached the postscript and had an “ah!” of understanding – why Friday is “my-day” (or indeed, why you are Friday’s).

All is clear- and I recognise and honour you as Friday’s child who “is loving and giving” according to the song – which fits my perception of you so completely!

    Lots of love, Hare-friend x

  2. Friday is a day of imbalance for me. The reviewing of the completed week and the planning of the weekend all in one. Thursday is usually my own favorite. Most of my difficult tasks are complete and the making of weekend plans can wait. A kick back day in my world. 😉

  3. Strange day indeed!!!! There are Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays … I awaken [ because I am old and retired ] wonder “is it Friday?” As soon as my feet hit the floor, I am certain, and relieved I do remember. LOL
