My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Music Prompt #43: “Someday We’ll Linger” by Gaelynn Lea
We live on earth as humble bards
All scribbled lines and wine glass shards
Leaving bitter taste, tattoos and scars
Of long-lost poems we used to write
The ones that kept us up all night
That never seemed to turn out right
We’re tied to words
We’re tied to words
Raindrops from a recent shower
Release a scent that gives us power
To write the beauty of a flower
We’re tied to words
We’re tied to words
We ponder on the morning glow
Metaphors orange and yellow
Rolling down like lava flow
We’re tied to words
We’re tied to words
We live on earth as humble bards
All scribbled lines and wine glass shards
Someday we know we’ll touch the stars
We’re tied to words
We’re tied to words

This line really stuck out for me: “All scribbled lines and wine glass shards.” Somewhere between the mind (a dream?) and words live the courage to write. Thank you so much 😀

Do you know anyone who could put it to music and sing it?
