Sun breaks skin on frozen pond,
shattering milky puddles;
grass glints like glass as spring
mushrooms through forest floor,
greeting a beetle with a thaw.

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix — Lorraine 18.02.17
In Lorraine’s edition of Saturday mix – a mélange of flash prose and poetry – we are welcome to try any or all of the challenges. I chose Almost Free on the Fives: in which Lorraine asks us to write a five line free verse with a total count of 25 words, using the photo as inspiration.
Nice springish feel to your verse. Warm enough here today to melt snow — I’ll have to wait for the mushrooms!
Thanks for participating.

Your welcome — I enjoy creating prompts, especially when my own creative writing pursuits are hard.

Five line free verse – you did great! This made me think about where I used to live: we had an abundance of mushrooms – it was so rainy and so humid it would grow prolifically.
And, oh how I yearn for spring. 🙂

Thank you so much, Cheryl-Lynn. For the last few days we have seen sunshine all day and beautiful sunsets in the late afternoon. The wait is almost over…
