Thirst

sun-blasted pasture craves cloud
a satisfying sip of shadow

withered grass gasps a long
rattling breath in the meadow

stretches a dusty lustreless tongue
across burning red soil

and licks the sea

Thirst inspired by a lithograph by Mi Young Lee

Mi Young Lee

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Bits Of Inspiration ~ Mi Young Lee

Susie tells us that she was recently privileged to reconnect with the artist, Mi Young Lee, at The Bayou City Art Festival in Houston, who gave Susie a gift of one of her lithographs, an original work of art, individually inked, pulled, and signed. The artist told her about a woman who had written a poem about one of her paintings so Susie thought it fitting to use her gift as inspiration for poetry here in the garden. The challenge for today is to write an original poem inspired by this Mi Young Lee painting. It can be in any style we choose.

  1. Such incredible images here, Kim 🙂 especially love; “stretches a dusty lustreless tongue across burning red soil and licks the sea.” Beautifully rendered.
