My response to Carpe Diem Haiku Kai Autumn Retreat 2017 “departure”

Written for the 100th anniversary of The Battle of Passchendaele, also known as the Third Battle of Ypres, 31 Jul 1917 – 10 Nov 1917

    1. I visited the site, Charley, and was delighted to see the poppy has been adopted in the US, too. My late mum was a fan of poppies and we are lucky to have fields of them all over Norfolk..Thanks for the link 😊

  1. I thought that this is another type of poppy . Then suddenly I just browsed and wow, a part of history with pictures and info (wiki) . Thanks for the word Passchendaele .
    and the haiku is so powerful and sad !!!!
