this morning serenaded
birdsong
just a gush of liquid notes
spilling
a stream of consciousness
filling
cracked and solitary hearts
whistling
an untimely declaration
of spring

My response to Poets and Storytellers United Weekly Scribblings #58: Two Into One Will Go
Thank you for featuring Candy’s newly-invented form, Rosemary, which I think you know I have already explored. Now I have another chance!
Oh, this is beautifully done, Kim!

I’m holding out for the harmony of joy your poem promises. This has the feel of a choir with the end words/ phrases feeling like the soloist’s part to impress the mood fully into the audience.

Yeah, a new form for me, too; I hope I’ve done it justice…as you have done here, KR. Awesome work.

I love the birds’ songs, you did justice to what they might be singing about. The kind I really like I think are the mocking birds who on a whim or reason sing from housetop to housetop. I used to be able to sing their song but have forgotten the words now.

Thank you, Jim We don’t have mocking birds in the UK, but our birds can be just as tuneful and loud!

Those birds are keen to find partners to get their nest full of eggs and later hungry chicks. Let’s hope the father helps with the feeding!

Perfection – I wonder, did you come up with the mini-poem first? I am SO ready for spring sounds…

Thank you, Margaret. The mini poem appeared as I wrote the main poem, peeked out at me like the honeysuckle leaves outside my window.
