In Pieces

a part
of her has always been
                                                                                            apart
a piecemeal woman
seen as a whole picture
a puzzle with missing bits of sky
                                                            or tree
                                                                          or mind
                                                                                           or heart

  1. This is absolutely stunning, Kim! ❤️ She is suffering but nobody knows because she hides it somewhere deep inside. The last thing she wants is pity 🙂

  2. This makes me want to know how and why those pieces came to be missing. Did someone else cut them out or was it self-inflicted?

  3. Kim, I like your “piecemeal woman” and could very easily become jealous of her. She doesn’t have to be on guard for offending or misunderstood. My Susie is to her Hubby, “that’s Susie.”

  4. this makes me think of how we all see someone as a “part” – like a mother is also a daughter, a wife, a friend, a co-worker – so many “others” and the “whole” is rarely seen – as are all people really…

  5. The form works well here, like puzzle pieces spread out on a table. I wonder if it’s how she sees herself or how others see her? Is it perception? Is it her reality? Maybe she’s whole and just doesn’t see it.
